Privacy Policy
Short version: BookBinge has no accounts. Your series, progress, streaks and honours live on your iPhone. We collect anonymous usage events to understand how the app is used, Apple and RevenueCat handle subscriptions, and when you ask for a recap we send the book's title (never who you are) to our recap service. We don't sell data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps.
Who we are
BookBinge is an iPhone app made by Razvan Popa, the developer listed on the App Store. Contact: bookbinge.app@gmail.com.
What stays on your iPhone
The series you add, the books you mark finished, reading days and pages, streaks, honours, your yearly goal and the recaps you've opened are stored only on your device. There is no cloud sync. The Home Screen widget reads the same on-device data. Reading reminders and release alerts are scheduled by iOS on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Usage analytics
The app sends anonymous usage events to our own analytics service, so we can see which features work and where the app goes wrong. Examples: app opened, onboarding steps, a series added, a book marked finished (the series and the book's number), a recap requested, a paywall viewed, a purchase started, and the text you type when you ask us to add a series that isn't in the catalogue.
Each event carries a random app ID (the same anonymous ID our subscription provider uses), your device model, iOS version, app version and the country or region set on your iPhone. We don't collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location or Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), and we don't use analytics to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
If you installed BookBinge from an Apple Search Ads advertisement, the app asks Apple's AdServices framework for an attribution token, which tells us which of our campaigns led to the install. The app also reports coarse conversion values to Apple through SKAdNetwork. Both are used only to measure our own advertising.
Subscriptions
Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card or Apple ID details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives the anonymous app ID and your App Store purchase history for BookBinge (products, dates, renewals, cancellations). See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Recaps
When you request a recap, the app sends the series title, author, book title and the book's number to our recap service, which runs on Cloudflare Workers and asks Anthropic's Claude model to write the recap. No app ID or other identifier is attached. As our host, Cloudflare processes your network (IP) address to deliver the request, and we keep request logs for a short time to fix problems. Anthropic processes the request under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. The recap is stored on your iPhone so you can reread it.
If you write to us, from the app or directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include, and use them only to reply.
This website
bookbinge.app counts page views and App Store clicks with a small script that stores a random ID in your browser's local storage. It uses no cookies and collects no names or email addresses; our server adds your country. When you click through to the App Store, a salted, one-way hash of your network address is kept for 3 days so an install can be credited to the page that led to it, then deleted.
Who we share data with
Only the service providers named above, each processing data on our behalf: our analytics host, RevenueCat, Cloudflare and Anthropic. We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it, and your choices
We keep analytics events only as long as we need them to understand and improve the app. You can turn off notifications in iOS Settings at any time, and deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. To ask for a copy of, or the deletion of, analytics linked to your device, email us. Because we don't know who you are, we may ask for details such as the date you installed and your country to find it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object or to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
BookBinge is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We'll update this page when the app changes what it collects, and change the date at the top.
